I just moved into an apartment. I am convinced that sinks/counters were designed to sell real estate, not to be useful. It was impossible to put anything on the sinks or anywhere else. My solution was to put some shelves near the sink. Without exaggerating, it was an excellent decision. Suddenly I could put my phone down without fear of it falling into the water or sinus. I'm not the most practical person. I didn't need any instructions either, which is good because there weren't any! I just took a pencil and marked the wall through the screw holes in the shelf, drilled the holes and put a plastic anchor in the hole. Then I put the screws 92) in the dowel and that's it! There are two shelves. I just repeated the same for the 2nd shelf. The only thing I did differently was add a towel bar to the bottom of the shelf. It was easy too.
