Looks and feels brand new! Look like it came straight from the manufacturer! Defintively looks and feels like hard plastic. If it gets through play time then it has done its job.Batteries are included and they are located inside the undercarriage of the truck. You probably want to get a screwdriver to replace the batteries if they are dead. And it's a quite of noisy toy! If you push the orange hexagon button, it will start up and push down the button to hear three sound effects from the truck. Sorry, there's no volume control anywhere on the truck and it doesn't come with a remote control.For an inexpensive toy, it's a bargain! Brought this as a Christmas gift to one lucky kid as part of 2020 United States Postal Office's Operation Santa program! I hope he likes his gift!
