These are exactly what I was looking for, slim wool gaiters to keep the neck and chin warm in the harsh Chicago winter. I've worn it with a down coat on 90 minute walks in 5 degree weather and found it warm enough. Merino wool does not absorb odors even after repeated wear. I hand washed it immediately upon receipt because it had a slight chemical odor, but soaking in natural detergent, rinsing and drying several times for a day eliminated this. I highly recommend this item to anyone who wants to continue outdoor activities in inhospitable cold temperatures without adding bulk!
