I once tried to save a few bucks by going to a third party then I decided to buy some new licensed remotes, this is definitely the one right way. . Aside from the fact that these licensed remotes actually work consistently and never break, Nintendo has made some nifty improvements over the original Wii remotes: First, it has Wii Motion Plus built-in, which is really nice. - Batteries last for hours (although I still recommend buying rechargeable batteries). - The handles now have small grooves and are therefore very comfortable to hold. - The sync button is now on the grip. on the outside of the remote so you don't have to remove the back to sync it with Wii/Wii U. And the remotes come with rubber pads, which I personally find uncomfortable and prefer not to fiddle with, but other users might find them fairly comfortable. So if you need a remote or some extra remotes, just spend the extra money and buy something licensed, it's much more useful.
