It took me about one minute to assemble this, and most of that was removing the packaging. There were no instructions, but none were needed: unfold a box shape, put a floor piece in the bottom, and put the lid on. It's small, of course, but just the right size for my space. The padding on the top is decent, the faux leather looks nice, and the black color is solid and actually black (not gray). I chose this item out of several similar ones because it has handles, so it's easy to move. I'm not going to load up the storage compartment with anything heavy, and I won't use it as an extra chair or a step stool: I don't think it's sturdy enough for those uses. But I bought it so I can keep my feet elevated as my doctor told me to do, and for that it works very well, and looks surprisingly nice at the same time.
