As a professional photographer and lab manager, I highly recommend this small desktop scanner. So many benefits, very few if any downsides for me. At work I have access to a fairly decent professional flatbed scanner that can handle transparencies, but work is work. I never find time to do my own scan. And it takes longer to set up a single scan than this little device. First, the footprint is perfect for my already cluttered desk. I keep the accessories for the small slider trays in a small pencil cup nearby, but they're all so compact compared to a tablet. Furthermore, the simplicity of the on-screen controls is easy to use. Of course I know how to use these devices, but I still didn't find it very difficult. Finally, the quality is excellent. People remember the film in a more romantic way, and it wasn't really that high definition. However, scanning self-made slides and negatives with a print resolution of 300 ppi is quite possible. I have thousands of family slides and not only does it serve as a viewer but of course you can scan it after viewing. There are surprisingly few downsides. Yes, it needs a memory card, but I have a lot lying around, and yet I bought it to use and keep in this little device permanently. So another scam is not that big of a problem, but just that, that to transfer to your computer you need to open the card on your computer as a "device" if you have it plugged in like I have been doing all along and just drag and drop the files and into a folder on your hard drive need to copy drive. Again, it's okay that it doesn't scan directly to the computer, so that's a minor minus for me. Due to the machine's design, which allows for the use of different sizes of transparent media, the film trays wobble a bit inside the machine, but again, this is not an impediment. A very interesting aspect of this flexibility is the ability to load and scan very old 35mm film. Movie. I got a few reels and finally got to see a whole paramount movie news reel, which I found through FDR's visit to rural Georgia. I've never managed to just scan this on a tablet. To do this, I simply built a "holder" for the spool and a winder for the other side, and ran the film through the machine to scan one frame of each frame. I'll post example scans later. As the name suggests, I love this little scanner and I'm glad I bought it. The film trays wobble a bit inside the device, but that doesn't bother us.
