Review on ๐Ÿถ Top-Rated Full Grain Genuine Leather Padded Dog Collar - Reliable Heavy Duty Collars by Logical Leather by Jaime Thomas

Revainrating 1 out of 5

DO NOT BUY! Bad design, NOT full grain or even high quality leather and generally rubbish.

Totally fooled by marketing language and some misrepresentations. Unfortunately my return window is closed as I pre-purchased it as a Christmas present for our boxer. The company advertises a full money back guarantee, but I would rather post this review to help other buyers than to get my money back. Design first: The hardware is poorly placed, the leash ring is right next to the buckle. Pushed and the two will smack against each other, severely restricting the angle of the line ring and creating a slight choke collar effect of about 1 inch. The lining only covers part of the interior and only "lines" the entire collar, the smallest opening, resulting in a 6 inch strap cheerfully draped behind the perforations. The description completely misrepresents what this collar is made of; it is most likely the skin of the third class ("real" or "natural"); NOT whole grain or even top quality. I don't think the main strap is bonded leather - the lining is not visible. Things to note: 1. ZERO grain on the outer surface. No one. Whole grain always shows natural grain and even some imperfections. Nobody "fixes" real leather - its beauty lies in the grain. True grain is usually irregular 3/16-inch (or so) blobs, like small amoebas. The "grain" (see 3 below) on this one is just pinched creases in the stocking.2. The shiny surface is already cracking (inside and on the sides) - a clear sign of inferior quality leather. the top layer is folded separately from the rest of the belt. The same goes for the lining. 4. Chemical odor very similar to urethane/polyurethane. Inherent in the finish of 'natural' or bonded leather. does not accept oil-based processing - typically genuine leather or even top-grain (aniline or semi-aniline). Water collects on this material, like on glass. soaks up water like a sponge because it is. 6. The lining is most likely vinyl or leather with a thin foam backing. VERY thin to be leather and does not bleed fibers, creases or finish tests. Also, the edges and ends are folded over and taped to hide the backing. Suspicious at best. I'd like to think that no self-respecting American (or Canadian) company would make a product like this.

Pros
  • Plain collars
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
