I read the reviews and was surprised by the misinformed claims they contained. First, Memory Stick Pro is a newer format than a regular memory card that differs in access time and overall capacity. Regular memory cards are limited to 128MB and are slower than the Pro version, which takes up to 2GB. Memorystick Select consists of 2 memory cards of 128 MB, which are combined into one and separated by a switch. The reason for this was to increase the memory card limit, but it has the disadvantage that you have to take out the memory card and slide the switch to access the other half of the memory on the card. Newer clies and cameras accept Pro memory sticks, but older devices cannot use them. The way to find out is on the device itself. Both my camera and clie support the Pro version. Now let's move on to MagiGate, the security format required to store music in ATRAC format. According to some sources, this proprietary format is the minidisc music format. For the camera, MagiGate doesn't matter, but for cli, for music, MagiGate is probably better, allowing you to take advantage of this format without sacrificing the ability to save files as MP3. Now for size and price. Right now the price difference of 128mb to 256mb is less than 256 to 512. By that I mean 2x the 128 price is well over the 1,256 price and the 2,256 price is a lot closer to the 512 price For me this means that the price 256 MB is the most reasonable.
