Review on πŸͺ₯ LiveCoco Activated Charcoal Bristle Toothbrush by Kurt Virden

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is the best natural option on the market that I've found right now, but it could definitely use a lot of improvement.

Update: 6/28/17 I've just used my brush for the rest of her life after getting my new one and would like to make a few more comments. It's still the best natural option I've seen with Revain, but it still needs some serious tweaking to be a really good brush. My original suggestion of using waterproof hardwood has not only stayed the same, but has been reinforced by my experience with it. I've spoken to LiveCoco about this a couple of times but they're reluctant to do so because they fear there won't be a market due to the higher price of wood. This is an unfounded fear. There's always a market for the best products available, no matter the price. Look at any category/product type and the best always has a market no matter the price. When this brush first came out it cost $15 but hundreds of people were willing to buy it because every time I wanted to buy it it was sold out and I had to check it again after a week. The brush is now less than $4, which means they have greatly improved their production efficiency so this is no longer an issue. All you have to do is switch to a different type of wood, and since you're only selling a very small fraction of it, it doesn't cost much more to use waterproof hardwood. Even if it cost $15, hundreds of people would be willing to buy it because they all bought a bamboo brush with much less strength and durability, not to mention the joy of using it. Bamboo has terrible water resistance and as such will degrade quickly and become rough from constant exposure to water as you can see in the photos causing the bristles to fall out fairly quickly. The wood would be smoother, more comfortable to use, and more durable, which would allow the bristles to last much longer, preventing them from falling into the mouth and having to be spat out. Updated: 11/26/17. Bamboo has become even rougher with continued use and most likely exposure to water, making it a less pleasant cleaning experience. So you have to deduct a star for that. Finely sanded, polished, and waterproof hardwood is by far the best choice. I'll keep my eyes open to buy the hardwood version. ------------ I like it. This is exactly what I wanted and I can't find another product with the same characteristics. I find that the softness of the bristles is perfect. I've read reviews about the bristles being too soft but that hasn't stopped me from buying one as I've heard from several dentists that I need the softest brush possible, the ultra soft. I love the softness of the bristles, they keep my teeth perfectly clean and smooth. I was also concerned that the roughness of the bamboo would interfere with the inside of my mouth. It is not so. I was also concerned that the roughness would worsen over time from water exposure, but this didn't happen. However, I would like to see a smooth and polished wooden brush. Teak seems to be the best option due to its moisture resistance. I would definitely buy this. I hope this company thrives and has the foresight to make a new brush out of polished wood and the same bristles. That would be great.
