I wish I'd taken another reviewer's advice and bought a "motion detector". Both sensors cost about the same. We tried to use this IR sensor in our kitchen pantry. We couldn't find a suitable place to operate the unit in our pantry for it to work with the door open. The IR sensor seems to have a narrow field of view compared to the motion detector and needs more IR contrast than our kitchen can provide. After spending about an hour getting the IR sensor to work in our app, I switched to "Motion Detection".
