Eliminated most of the slime but lost 4 Tridacnid Shells and a Fire Scallop

This product effectively reduces cyanobacteria. However, I lost all of my tridacnid clams within a month of using Chemiclean. My aquarium has worked well (over 10 years) 125 gallons 72 inches with about 75# live rock. As lighting I have 3 Radion XR15W Pro. The problem with cyan started after switching to LEDs 6 months ago. I am running 6 Hydor Koriala heads on a Wavemaker. I have used Phosban 550 reactor with Chemipure and 150 with GFO. Both are fresh. I also have a HOT skimmer for a reef octopus. The aquarium has a wide variety of corals including soft corals, SPS and LPS. Star polyps and zoos were hit the hardest, so I decided to give this product a try. For fish in the tank there are simple reef fish including tangs, some chromus, 6 lines etc. For reverse shrimp there are skunk cleaner shrimp, snails, crab, harlequin shrimp, some brittle starts, 12 inch sebaye, 6 inch sebaya etc. I also had 10 year old 6 inch Crocea and 3 smaller clams (Derasa, Squamosal, Maxima) ranging in age from 18 months to 5 years. The clams responded very well to the LEDs while some other corals appeared to be sucked in/burned out. I carefully followed Chemiclean's instructions, including turning off all chemical filters and running a heavy-duty air pump with three rocks scattered throughout the tank. My skimmer went crazy straight away, required a lot of tweaking, but kept working. After about 24 hours I noticed the anemones were looking bad and were trying to move. Things got worse over the next 12 hours so I turned ChemiPure and GFO back on, did a 25 percent water change and the anemones calmed down again. All other animals looked normal. After two weeks I noticed that all the mussels looked strained. A few days later my Crocea spawned. I added a HOT mechanical filter to trap the slime before it causes problems. Over the next month all my shellfish started dying. No other animal was harmed. My water parameters are normal.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
