The color is excellent - purple, yellow, blue, pink, it's slightly colorful and not too uncomfortable. My 9 year old niece tried it on and that's what she thought. She liked the color palette, the hoodie, the long sleeves, and the longer length. I didn't tell her it had to be a dress, she thought it was too big, which she preferred anyway. I didn't find the fabric as soft as my personal hoodies and was really expecting a hoodie-style material. Unfortunately, it is neither heavier nor thicker than a normal hoodie. I also didn't tell her that I ordered a size 12-13. Honestly, if this is a dress, it's a bit short. For my niece, the hooded dress is quite long and the size is loose on her. It would be more suitable for 12-13 year olds but it might be too short/narrow. In general, we both think it's cute, but it's not very warm or soft, and it can be too small and short depending on the girl. We are also not sure about the shrinkage situation. We'll see after the first wash.
