Review on Monoprice Flush Type 3.5mm Stereo Keystone Jack (White) - Improved SEO! by Julian Banks

Poor quality and only good for permanent installation

I usually like Monoprice products. They usually meet minimum quality standards and I've rarely had a problem with this brand. But this keystone connector is a very notable exception. As previously mentioned, the Keystone has additional plastic ribs on the sides that make it too wide to fit next to another Keystone when mounted in a four or six hole wall plate. I had to cut these tabs off. There is no reason why they should be necessary as many other manufacturers have no problem making trapezoidal stones that fit their allotted space perfectly. In addition, the tolerances for the actual nest are too tight. It is literally impossible to insert a 3.5mm plug without a) damaging the plug and/or b) pushing the keystone back into the wall. And in case you're wondering, the plastic tabs from the previous paragraph don't help either; at best they prevent the capstone from being pulled out of the wall. The only way I've found to insert the plug is to remove the wall plate from the wall, plug in the plug, and then put everything back together. This is normal for a one-time installation. But that's totally useless for cables that need to be removed from time to time. And just in case, I tried a few different plugs. Everyone had the same problem. And they all work great in other devices and with other types of couplers. Except that this particular Monoprice clutch doesn't work properly. I would not recommend buying this product due to obvious flaws. However, if you already have it and use it in a place where you don't have to switch different plugs, it will work fine once installed.
