My husband has a newer Phillips Sonicare - and it sounds like a jackhammer by comparison, but my teeth are really clean. The only thing I want to warn you about is if you are microbes and growing freaks like me. - It is necessary to remove the head and rinse after use. If you don't put the head on and place it on the base, the moisture from the head (bristles as well as small holes) will run INSIDE the toothbrush and form a puddle/stinky residue on the white base. This pretty glass mug from my husband at Phillips pisses me off. Oh, and spend that extra cash to get Oral-B heads - they're way better than fakes. My teeth actually seem a lot cleaner, even with the jackhammer noise and the extra brushing step - I would still buy it again.
