I have never used a laptop stand and have no comparison to this stand. But I've been working from a laptop for about 5 years. I had no idea what I was missing! It's paradise. Bought a new 15" MacBook Pro last week, Space Gray - and this stand is perfect for it. I don't think anything you could add or take away from the stand would make it any better. I have a feeling it would was designed to keep the heat off my MacBook and I'm sure it will prolong the life of my device.Other reviewers said the silicone pads on the stand were off center but that seems to have been fixed.Mine seems pretty accurate to be. Other reviews have complained that the color doesn't match Apple's Space Gray, but I'm glad the stand is a slightly darker gray than my MacBook. It adds texture. The two different hues complement each other perfectly. And the darker gray color of the stand gives me more confidence that it will securely support my MacBook, so who cares if it doesn't match perfectly, use it as a reminder Remember that life comes in many shades and it would be boring without it.
