This is a great product but MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE BOTTLE FIRST! Live bacteria settle to the bottom. This isn't a miracle bottle that will run through your tank in a day or two. You MUST still test the water to ensure the cycle is complete. This leap out of the bottle starts with the addition of good bacteria to grow on all surfaces. Growth still takes time. You know you're in a full cycle of the good bacteria eating up the added ammonia in 24 hours. Filling this in and adding the fish right away will stress the fish as they will go through one more cycle until the bacteria settle in your tank to feed on the ammonia and nitrites. If your fish survived, you're just lucky, and this bottle only shortened the stressful period. I recommend this product to get you up and running quickly, but do yourself a favor and buy a simple API test kit so you don't go blind. :)
