My husband wears them until they wear out. Usually it takes about 3 years. Over time, the tread wears out and makes them slippery, so we buy a new pair. This pair, from this seller is only 6 months old and the tread is almost worn. It's a big problem but more of an urgent problem - my husband left them out on the deck in the sun (as usual) and THEY SIT OUT! This is madness! the heat reduced one of them several sizes and the other maybe a size! This is the strangest thing! They are not cheap and now we have to replace them in 6 months! This couple went through the same grooming as the previous couple, which lasted for many years.
