There aren't many small radios these days so this one is acceptable for the price. A plus is the built-in AC plug with no external power supply and batteries for portability. The tiny speaker could be a lot better, it looks like old walkie talkies. It has a pretty powerful amp, about 10 watts as far as I can tell. I have adapted mine for external desktop speakers and once plugged in they sound good, have some bass down to about 50Hz (you have to solder to connect them yourself (no external jack or headphone out) but there is an input jack around it to connect to the iPhone, but newer phones have about the same sound quality these days. It looks good and tunes to stations well, although it's difficult to adjust due to the lack of a gear to reduce the sensitivity of the tuner knob.
