I bought my first watch from Slow in 2014 and was so impressed with the style, quality and overall vision of the company that I have since added two more models to their range . The last one, Slow Round 02, is the subject of this review. The Slow Round has a round stainless steel case that is 40mm wide (excluding the crown) and 8.25mm thick. Unlike previous models with a polished finish, the Slow Round has a soft, matte finish that doesn't reflect light. The case is beveled at the top and bottom, creating a narrow, tapered bezel surrounding a flat sapphire crystal (most earlier models had hardened K1 crystal). Like all Slow watches, there are no markers on the dial, which is part of the ethic of their minimalist design. The back is flat and held in place by four mounting screws, making it easy to replace the battery at home (provided you have the right screwdriver). The Slow logo is featured on the back (the crown is also signed with her trademark). Four narrow, tapered and curved lugs offer a 20mm wide leather strap attachment. All Slow leather straps feature a stainless steel buckle modeled after the octagonal shape of their first Slow Jo watch. sits comfortably on the wrist, with a low center of gravity. The narrow bezel and short, pointed lugs make it an almost solid dial. The matte finish gives it a very understated look that's less noticeable than any previous model. I've found that when I'm wearing one of these watches, I often just look at it and judge the time by the approximate angle of the hand, much like I read the speedometer on my car, rather than looking at the exact number on the hand shows. If I look a second longer, the time can be determined to within a few minutes, but that misses the point of this watch. They promote an attitude of "about 2:00 p.m." rather than "it is now 2:06:33 p.m." Especially on weekends or holidays, this idea of time can be refreshing or relaxing. People who take the time to set their mechanical watches and then track their performance daily with an electronic tracker have a hard time accepting this view. The Ronda quartz movement is very accurate from day to day or even over many months, but a watch with one hand cannot read as accurately as a watch with two or three hands. This means that once the slow clock is set, it doesn't need to be set again until Daylight Saving Time needs to be changed about every six months. If you ignore Daylight Saving Time and just mentally add or subtract an hour, a slow watch can literally run for years without adjustment because the tiny amount of accumulated seconds is still not readable on the dial. There are some slow clocks. They are beautifully crafted from quality materials with excellent workmanship. They are so unique that I have never met anyone who wears them. Their unusual appearance sometimes attracts attention, and people sometimes ask questions about them.
