We had two whistles, one for an older dog a few years ago (previous model) and one for a puppy (this model). Both models track activity, but the current experience (battery life, mobile app, weekly reports) has improved. Having real-time data helps me ensure my pup is worn out. If he doesn't train for 180 minutes, I can't sleep well. When we got our older dog, I found that he needed 80-100 minutes of activity. A little more and he gets restless; a little more and his arthritis would flare up. We were also able to see his activity decrease when he was in trouble, which allowed us to speak to our vet to increase medication or find other treatments. On top of that, it's just fun to watch him actively. A colleague told me this years ago and I struggled to figure out why until I got it. There has been a lot of talk in the comments about requiring a subscription. It is, and I think $3 a month is great value. I'm grateful that the company found a way to balance the one-time purchase price with a recurring income model that costs less than a cup of coffee. However, there are a few things I'd like to change: * Instead of asking for your pet's date of birth, the app asks for their age, so you'll have to keep updating it to keep it accurate (nothing - I can't see how it does affects everything - but it's stupid) * Home screen items update at different rates, so you'll see your target percentage long before your activity minutes update (a bit annoying, but probably not) * Daily and weekly stats are good, the last one shows a difference from last week but I would like to see a longer term trend* What I really want is to see how my dog compares to other dogs of the same breed. race, gender, age and weight. Heck I would even pay a higher subscription to this InsightNet/net - informative, entertaining and if you know there are recurring costs you will be very happy with it I think!
