We use these style lights every year to light up our driveway gate. This year we bought 2 sets of these.Tl;dr Both sets non-functional and being returned.Installed as indicated which is pretty straight-forward in theory. Here’s the negatives.First. The factory spool job is twisted onto a flat cardboard spool. Both sets of ours had about 3 feet of wire accessible and then for some reason the wire went all the way underneath to the other end of the roll, necessitating the removal of the spool, the unwinding of the entire roll, and the re-spooling onto a hand without kinks or knots.Second. These have one of those power buttons that has no visual indicator of status, and both the ON and OFF clicks are identical in feel and sound. So. One never knows if the unit is on or off. Important because when off, it won’t charge. See where I’m headed?So the process is this. Do the spool-unspool-respool dance. Mount solar panel. Power on (?) so not charges while you install lights. Finish lights. Cover solar panel to imitate darkness so lights will come on.Lights don’t come on. Switch power again to obviously turn it on this time. Right? Wait another half hour to see the lights glimmer indicating they’re on and charging?Nope. No matter how power switch set nor mode button pushed. No amount of light goodness comes from either set.We’re in Florida. In full sunlight to charge. I’m covering the solar panel with the box to totally block out light.Nope. Garbage. One set maybe it was just a fluke. Two sets? No way. Anyway. Both sets headed back to amazon with a sad-mad-angry 6yo glaring at me as if this is my fault.Beware lol
