Nikon makes really great glass but you have to spend money to get something good! This lens is perfect for those who are just starting out in photography. However, if you're "serious" about photography, simply saving up for another telephoto lens can be a good idea. Without image stabilization you're limited to shooting on bright days to get stills at 300mm. Also, constantly zooming in and out (it's a zoom, after all) causes dust to be pumped into the internals because they're poorly sealed. Not a very good lens in general and I wouldn't recommend this particular lens. Nikon lens. Overall though, Nikon makes quality stuff - spend a little more and you won't be disappointed!
