I have a gate in my garden where I have outdoor "fun" (BBQ, table, chairs ) but it can be quite dark so I needed a set of lights that would illuminate the area well without attracting a lot of bugs. I chose fancy garlands that can be dimmed, but the biggest problem was throwing the gate to where the socket was on the house wall. I had several shorter poles that rested against the fence, but those two poles were the heart of the setup - cordoning off the gate at a height that didn't get in the way of people entering or exiting the gate. They are large and the pins I drove into the ground provided a very stable setup for starting my smart string of lights. After installing all my poles and wiring up the light I was more than happy with the result. I wouldn't have been as comfortable with the setup without those two bars. Great if like me you need height!
