I am a middle aged woman with a small head, forehead circumference 20.5 inches. Adjust the inner diameter, the top of the hat is a little too big It sits lower than I would like on my forehead. I didn't try the smallest size as I expected a medium would fit. Also, I like this hat. I've worn it all day in the summer heat digging into rocks and heavy roots I need a chin strap to stay on my head when I bend forward but it wasn't too hot and shaded my face and neck Well.
