This is the first quality turntable I have ever owned and reviewing old records (mostly classics) has shown that surface noise and scratches are kept to a minimum and playback is completely silent is. No more fiddling with sensitive grounding wires like with my old Technics. The first record I tried was a DG recording of Mahler's Ninth Symphony with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Giulini. The Ortofon pickup reproduces great-sounding bass and strings. The project deserves 5 stars, but be careful when you take the plate off the plate; Carefully lift it all the way up to the record, otherwise the strap can easily slip off. Easy enough to get used to.RE
