You only need 20 minutes to assemble a bookcase. I did this while the baby was sleeping! I was hesitant at the price, but it works so well I bought another one for more books. The fabric isn't cheap, but it's not the most durable either, so I know I'll probably be replacing it in a few years (there are plenty of tutorials on Pinterest on how to do this). There was a bit of a chemical smell when I first assembled it, so I had the bookshelves aired out in another room over the weekend. I know most people ask "How many books?!" I wish I could answer that question, all kids/kids books are weird shapes and sizes so it really depends on what kind of books you have. I bought them so my child can pick up a book at any time and I don't have to worry about a heavy bookshelf falling on them. I also like the fact that the colors aren't too youthful so these bookshelves can last for many years.
