I work from home and my office is in a bedroom with mirrored closet doors across from my desk, so video calls always look very strange. I've pinned this to the bar right behind me with a black bath towel and I can use the 'green screen' background in my conferencing software and it works great. I was hoping that the metal of the crossbar would work with magnets, but no. There is a central staff, but the crossbar is non-magnetic metal. The height adjustment parts are mostly plastic, so I don't think they'll support something heavy like an old-school projection screen with a metal case, but any cloth or paper should work just fine. It is easy to take apart and put away.
