Installed on my daughter's 2011 Subaru Outback. It replaced the left license plate light and required no external openings. It looks like a factory setting. I drilled a hole in the inner panel for easier guidance. I sealed the hole with plugs and silicone. To get through the rear deck all panels had to be removed. There are a few hidden screws under the small extra panels, and the rest just pull out. The reverse light wiring is easy to connect as it is on the deck. I routed the cable through the conduit to the inside of the roof by unplugging and reinserting the conduit. Running the cable under the ceiling was not difficult. I used thin guide wire on the posts. I attached a small monitor above the mirror with 3M mounting tape and then brought the back panels back. The display is not as good as the factory display, but good enough. My daughter said the first time she used it she saw the neighbor's cat behind the car but didn't have time to run it over. This cat bit everyone, one of those, pet me, then I bite, cats. She only joked about trying to run him over and waited for the cat to get out of the way.
