Review on C-Force C FORCE Portable Monitor 15.6" FreeSync Speakers, 3840X2160P, High Dynamic Range, 011X PRO4, HDMI, 4K by Stevon Winningham

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Excellent where it matters, but not everywhere.

Upgrading my rating from 3 stars to 2 stars: I've had it for a year now and the display is starting to fall apart. It has significant and hard-to-ignore "soft" spots throughout. What I Learned: I love these portable displays, but you get what you pay for. I will be replacing this display with a 1080p display from a more reputable brand. I would no longer recommend this product. ***First, a few tips when you buy it: Be sure to use the included cable when playing on Nintendo Switch. My other cables didn't work. I'm not sure if this is a 3.0 compatibility issue or something specific to Switch compatibility. Also, if you're getting crazy colors when using it with a Mac, go to "Display" in Preferences and turn off the "High Dynamic Range" option. I almost returned this monitor twice - once for each of these issues - so hopefully someone will read this and have a smoother experience. Ok, now for the actual review. Second monitor for gaming after work. I'm not really a one-desk person - I like to move around a lot - so this thing really suits my work/play style. I use it with different consoles to play competitive FPS games where screen size matters. It's sharp, bright and fast enough. I didn't notice any difference between this and my large HP FreeSync monitor, and I generally prefer this device over the larger monitor because USB-C makes it so easy to power on and plug in everything (no more Switch mini-dock needed! ). It's thin, light, and fits perfectly in my pocket on my 15" MBP. I'm always a bit more competitive on my big monitor because it magnifies everything, but I still prefer this portable one because of all the other benefits mentioned above. So yeah where it counts, this little thing shines. Unfortunately, this item costs $50-$100 less than items with identical specs, and for good reason. Kind of a messy looking rug, and I wish I could swap it out for something nicer , but since it's glued on I'm basically sticking with what I have while it falls off. The sound card is complete bullshit and not even worth trying. Everything sounds loud, bright and tinny. When you $100 If you have spares, it might be worth getting a prettier model with a better sound card and stand, but if you're on a budget, this screen is the way to go essential.
