This comb when used for its intended purpose is only a PART of getting rid of fleas. Yes, it combs through the fur on the lower back near the animal's tail and neck area (the spots where fleas most often attach because the animal can't get to them easily) and pulls out live fleas and eggs. Hair. I use a damp paper towel to wipe a wet comb when doing a deep comb. You probably won't see the eggs as they are tiny. But you can see peppery inclusions that are actually the feces of the female flea. And if the splatters were fresh, as the stains are fresher with fresher blood, when you dry the comb with a paper towel you may see the stains give off a red color. We take a multi-pronged approach to getting rid of fleas. Our fully domesticated cats somehow got fleas. We used CAPSTAR for instant scratch and bite relief. But CAPSTAR is only valid for 24 hours, but your pets will FEEL a lot better and you and your pets will sleep better. In the meantime we had ADVANTAGE II in two different sizes (up to 8 kilos and over 8 kilos) for flea control in cats from AMAZON. I read A LOT about mixing CAPSTAR with ADVANTAGE II before occasionally topping up CAPSTAR until we started making VERY big strides against feline ailments. You'll have to do your own research, but we did it due to the horrible suffering our kitties were going through from a fairly minor infection. Some cats react terribly to just three or four fleas! In the meantime we have used a broad spectrum insecticide from PRECOR that kills live fleas, eggs, larvae and pupae on your floors and upholstery. Once it dries, you and your pets can enter the room. We covered three rooms a day for several days and it worked great. Flea bombs are NOT very good at getting under sofas or hard-to-reach places and very difficult to follow directions. And we didn't buy BIO SPOT carpet care products for the carpets themselves, we bought them INSIDE the dust collectors of vacuum cleaners. So we didn't remove any of the above flea life stages and didn't let them multiply further. BIO SPOT kills fleas at all stages in the same way as PRECOR, which you spray on almost any surface in your home. Some people throw away any used sachets, but if they had some of this powder in the sachets, there wouldn't be a need. Vacuuming for weeks and weeks and weeks (and sometimes months, since the development of eggs, larvae and pupae depends on temperature and humidity) is REALLY necessary. A female can lay fifty eggs in a day and live for several weeks. Meanwhile, their offspring enjoy developing and performing THEIR own breeding and attacking processes. "VICIENT CIRCLE" does not describe what is happening. Because of this, you really SHOULD follow all the recommended steps. Not one, not two, not three, but ALL steps. Religious! Now the comb will remove fleas from your pet, but only those that do not run to another area of your pet or jump off your pet while brushing. No, we only use this very effective comb to measure PROGRESS in our multi-stakeholder approach. I saw progress every day. To be honest I've only seen three little LIVE fleas detaching from the comb in all this time, but we've seen a lot of "flea dirt". So this comb probably removed lots and lots of eggs, not letting them fall where they wanted, but getting into the wet paper towel and getting rid of them in an unmistakable way. less "flea dirt" was found and the cats now feel very comfortable. HOWEVER, some overlooked fleas breed over time. Just when you think it's over, your cat may start scratching AGAIN! We continue to use CAPSTAR only when absolutely necessary and continue to use ADVANTAGE II. And we use BIO SPOT in iRobot dustbins and Dyson Animal dustbins for handheld vacuums. We use vacuums almost every day in pet areas and anywhere pets roam. Eggs fall from pets as they walk, and somehow as the stages progress they manage to get into darker, unobstructed areas... the pupal stage is the hardest to kill as it forms a hardened shell around the egg. Fleas, so make sure you get products that say they kill the pupal stage of fleas. In any case, I would like to have all this information as we started our fight against fleas that were mysteriously appearing in our house. This summer was a "flea paradise" with its heat and humidity. Apparently, even households without pets have problems! These fleas really can jump and you may never be able to tell where they came from, but we REALLY know that you must take ALL the steps to get rid of EVERY flea in the long run! Unfortunately, even after you feel you are in control, you SHOULD continue with monthly pet treatments. Fleas transmit cat scratch fever and can also spread tapeworm if your cat swallows a flea during a bite to get relief. Sorry, but you MUST do all of this. This comb is HELP, but not a panacea!
