Great product if you have the right workflow.

The files are huge, much larger than you would like to handle in a post-processing operation. Count on 2GB for a 44-minute 720p/30fps TV show at the lowest bitrate. This quality is sufficient for viewing on a TV with a screen diagonal of 35 inches or more. This climbs to over 8GB in an hour of 1080 programming. The files consist primarily of uncompressed videos saved in .mp4 format, making them easy to stream on slower systems and copy directly to VLC, Quicktime, PLEX, WindowsMedia, etc Windows or Windows can be played on Mac without conversion. Use the remote control for the first time and increase the volume to the maximum. If you use the remote control and write directly to the supplied USB flash drive, it will become corrupted after a few writes and will need to be reformatted to FAT32 or NTFS on your PC. Everything on that flash drive can be lost, including the current recording, so I don't want to plug a large hard drive directly into the USB output port. If you need to use flash drives, FAT32 format is more stable, but all your files will be split into 2GB blocks. ClonerAlliance offers a segment merging and editing utility, but the file size makes this almost impractical. Keep using NTFS and the files won't be split, but the corruption problem will appear sooner. If you want a bulletproof workflow, connect a 2GB NTFS hard drive to your router and share that drive. Using the free ClonerPro Helper application on your PC to write to a network drive bypasses the problem of file corruption and gives you instant access to your library on another networked computer. The computer used for recording does not have to be fast; Thinkpad 2012, Win 7/32, with 2 gigabytes of RAM adequately copes with its task and offers monitoring of what is happening. read/write permissions. As mentioned, ClonerAlliance seems to have a strong commitment to support and has a liberal return policy. Firmware updates seem to come out just a few months apart, so I expect file handling issues to be fixed soon.
