I recently made myself a desk out of pallets and pipes. I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't bother sanding the pallet wood smooth or using poly on it so it still has a slightly rough texture. I chose this desk stand to have a smoother surface to work on and to be comfortable for me and my laptop. It's absolutely perfect! The texture is very pleasant. I haven't really had to clean it yet, but I did have to mop up some of the water that fell down while watering my plant. The water was ideally collected in beads and didn't soak at all, so it was nice. It came bundled up like I'm sure they all do. I laid it down with some books for a day and it straightened up with no problem. I don't use the included smaller notepad at home but I'm in my work office and it works great too. I don't use a mouse at home, but since it's the same material and a smaller pad works well, I think a desk pad would work as well. Both appear to be high quality materials and seem to last a long time, but I can't speak to their durability from my experience as I've only had them a few weeks. A two tone color is also a good option and red is the perfect red. In my experience you can't go wrong with this purchase.
