I bought this duvet in the hope that the stitching I saw in the photos would help the inner batting in the duvet does not shift and stick together during the wash cycle. This set claims to be machine washable which is why it's on my list of candidates as we have a dog and a toddler who both spend time in bed with us. Initially loved this set. It's great in person. It's soft, comfortable, and the colors match the photos, which got me incredibly excited. Thanks to my tornado baby, we washed our comforter for the first time a few weeks later. Big mistake. Care instructions were strictly followed. The dryer settings were lowered to a low temperature and extra precautions were taken: she was only put in the dryer for a short time before being allowed to air dry to the end, hoping to preserve her condition for as long as possible. It still came out of the wash with major color losses at the bottom of the duvet in an area that used to be a great paisley pattern. After 10 minutes in the dryer on the lowest setting it also became crusty, wrinkled and stuck together so much I think the cotton has started to melt. The video shows *some* creases as I tried to take it apart and smooth it out, but it was a lot worse before I picked up my phone to document it. Luckily it wasn't in the dryer long enough to be completely destroyed. The color loss is also quite annoying. I wouldn't recommend it - it wasn't the most expensive set but I've had more economical sets that have held up better after ONE wash than this. So disappointing because I really liked the look.
