I only bought this because I wanted virtual 7.1 and it works perfectly. Unfortunately, you'll have to lower the bitrate to DVD sound quality if you want to use this feature, as Micro-USB is used and the standard doesn't support the bandwidth required for 7.1 at higher bitrates. I really like the volume ring, but wish it didn't control the volume of your system, just the output volume like most amps do. The touchscreen has multiple switches and four preset buttons. You can change the switches however you like and then lock them to one of the preset buttons and I love this feature, but all the documentation I could find never explained what any of the features are or how to use them. Through trial and error I had to figure out how this all works. I'm still not sure I fully understand what my settings do, but at least they sound good. By the way, you must watch the documentation online. They don't include anything other than a quick start guide in the box. If you can find software for it, don't bother installing it. This is not necessary and you can also save some space on your PC and avoid another launcher. I like this DAC but I would rather have more audiophile quality. Although I prefer 7.1. In my opinion this is a necessity. Also, it looks really cool on my desk.
