On August 10, Hurricane Derejo (equivalent to a Category 4 50-minute hurricane according to the National Weather Service) hit our city with sustained winds of 100 mph and heavy torrential rain. The storm was coming from the west and our outdoor TV was on our west-facing patio. Luckily the TV was covered with a Dream Outdoor TV enclosure. The west side of our home, including the patio (and the TV on the patio), was hit directly by Storm Derecho. The TV was affected by sustained winds in excess of 100 mph and heavy torrential rain lasting over 50 minutes. I was sure, that the TV was wet only because of the severity of the storm. After the storm subsided I checked the TV and found it was dry but I still thought that due to the strength of the storm the water must have leaked through the TV's lid somewhere. I figured the best way to check this was to turn on the TV; if it worked, I knew the TV had survived; If it doesn't turn on, I would assume the TV got wet during a thunderstorm. Unfortunately I had to wait nine (9) days to turn on the TV as we were without electricity for nine days! When we finally had power, I pulled the remote from the "remote pocket" on the lid and started turning on the TV. Everything worked; the remote control turned on the TV; Both the TV and the remote worked without any problems or issues. So you can definitely buy more expensive outdoor TV enclosures, but in my experience, there is nothing better than this outdoor TV enclosure! but I still thought that due to the strength of the storm, the water must have leaked through the TV cover somewhere.
