I was hesitant to replace the old humidifier with an ultrasonic one, but after having it at home and in use I'm not only satisfied but also surprised at how good it is better works for us! It's not perfect but for basic needs it fills a large bedroom with much needed moisture very well thanks to dry gas heating! If you order this please read the information you get in the box, it will speed up the installation a lot. We use filtered water to fill the tank and when set to half the maximum setting it easily lasts a week. I bought a large flat table mat to lay it down so the drips wouldn't damage the top of the dresser it sits on. It's convenient to just wipe dry with a paper towel from time to time. Once you have filled the tank, set up the base, plug it in, install the tank and let it fill the base, power on and enjoy! A pleasantly cool mist spreads throughout the room. The downside is that the control knob isn't really a great way to adjust the mist as it only has increments and knob turns past the last mark so I use a humidity meter bought elsewhere to determine what humidity level works best overall. It took us a few tries, but we found the 55% mark and then used a marker to make a permanent mark on the machine's handle. For the price you can't beat it and while it might break if dropped, handle the tank carefully and you'll be fine. Everything is considered a great little device that runs very quietly, which is also a big plus over the old device it replaced. Easy to clean, fill, use and own. Of course we believed that an ultrasonic cold mist humidifier would work for us.
