Having already replaced the top shelf wheels, it's no wonder Whirlpool didn't spend more money on the bottom shelf wheels either. These are solid replacement parts that are built the way the manufacturer should have been from the start. We installed it based on product reviews from other vendors that reported corrosion on metal axles. I waited a month and replaced the other three, one of which broke during that time. While you can certainly damage these or other parts through careless force or abuse, they are durable and should work under normal use and heavy loads.
