Strings...!!! in my opinion
This hat is perfect for my 6 month old daughter! She enjoys wearing it (she doesn't try to take it off) and it definitely keeps her warm. If you are looking for a hat that you definitely want to tie under your chin, this may not be the hat for you as the tie straps are a bit short.
