Instructions need to be in package

(ATTACHED PHOTOS show my tin foil method of keeping tubes submerged; the size of the ceramic stakes as compared to a standard toothpick, and the hoses.) These need instructions in the package (not just buried on the product page). If I had sent these to someone as a gift and they didn't have a computer, they would be using them all wrong.I don't know yet if these work. I hope that I have them set up properly. There were no instructions in the package and I went by common sense before I noticed…

Pros
  • Adjustable dripper allows for customization of water flow
Cons
  • The waterers may not be compatible with drip irrigation systems

Learning curve, but they work!

I've been using this product for a few days now, in preparation for an upcoming vacation. I don't want to come home to dead plants. When my order arrived, one tube had a hole in the bottom, so I had to fix that. So far though, these seem to be working. I'm using them for 6 indoor pots and one large outdoor pot. I top off the indoor water containers daily so I've just switched to larger containers. I have 2 tube in my outdoor pot, and it's still a bit dry, so I'm going to add another 1 or 2…

Pros
  • Watering Equipment
Cons
  • The automatic watering mechanism may malfunction and overwater plants

Might be tricky, but worth it!

We went on vacation for two weeks and I was freaking out. I don't want to have to pay someone to come to water the plants! These were a great solution! I used all of them. I set them all up a week before we left so I could make sure they worked and I had trouble with a few of them, they weren't sucking up the water. But I had time to troubleshoot and fix them. When we came back home all the plants were alive and well! I actually kept all of them in place and just fill up the jugs (we used empty

Pros
  • No more worrying about forgetting to water your plants
Cons
  • They may not be aesthetically pleasing and may not match the decor of some households

Worked pretty well on my review.

The spikes seemed to work well. I used them on my outside potted plants while I was away on vacation for 15 days. Only two plants seemed to be struggling when I returned. One I know was due to the fact that the end that was suppose to be in the water supply wasn't. In the other plant both spikes were dry even though they were still connected to the water source. Not sure what happened because the plant was not dead so I know that the spikes had been working. Anyway, I am pleased with the spikes

Pros
  • Saves time and energy by not having to manually water
Cons
  • The waterers may disrupt the natural water cycle of plants

I finally found it out!

I have been testing a system to water my plans when I am out. This one turned out to be the one!, Cheap, and simple. I added only an extra weight (fishing weights) and the end of the little tubes, so they stick to the bottom of the water container, so I am sure they don't float or rollback. Other than that, this is perfect. I have bought first one of 8, then another of 10 and finally, I added one of 16 yesterday!, I love it!.

Pros
  • Perfect for all types of plants including flowers, herbs, and vegetables
Cons
  • The waterers may attract insects and pests

Happy plants! - my new review

Once you get the hang of it, these are wonderful. I bought two packs to set up my indoor jungle before we leave the country for three weeks so that our poor housesitter is not completely overwhelmed with complicated watering instructions. Have been testing for a few weeks now and my plants seem to be very happy with this system. I used deli containers with small holes in the lids to prevent spills/evaporation. One of mine had a defective tube but the merchant replaces immediately. It’s true…

Pros
  • Saves space by not requiring bulky watering equipment
Cons
  • The waterers may not be able to deliver water to all parts of the plant

Best way to water urban jungle

I am so happy with these watering spikes! I have what you might call a small urban jungle. I was looking for a way to save time watering and save my furniture from spills and my back from having to lift heavy pots to move them to my shower so excess water could safely drain. I subscribe to a YouTube channel done by an amazing woman, Summer Rayne, called Plant One On Me and she suggested this kind of watering system. I ordered the tubes and set them up in all my problem pots. I used canning jars

Pros
  • Great for potted plants and hanging baskets
Cons
  • They may not be eco-friendly and contribute to plastic waste

These were great when they worked. And they worked well for about 4-6 weeks. Then they stopped working. I didn't have time to figure out what was going on. I sat down now and did the things suggested (scrub cone, check line etc.) I still can't get them to work again. After scrubbing they now do release a bit of water now versus none before, but only if the water supply is really elevated (=more pressure) and nowhere near as much as in the beginning. They were a good price but for just working…

Pros
  • Saves plants from drought and dehydration
Cons
  • The waterers may not be effective for all soil types

Only half of them worked

I bought these to keep plants watered during a 2-week vacation. I spent 2 weeks before our trip troubleshooting these waterers and after hours trying to make them work multiple times I only got half of them to work. The idea is simple but the system is badly designed. The idea is that as the water seeps through the ceramic more water is pulled from the container through the tubing by capillary action. The problem is that this is badly designed because the tubing stops flush with the plastic…

Pros
  • Can be used with a variety of container sizes
Cons
  • The waterers may not be suitable for plants that require extra fertilizer

Clever but unreliable

I really wish these were more reliable, because they are really cool when they do work. I had a couple hanging plants that were watered solely with the spikes for about 2 months, but eventually they stopped working and I only noticed when the plants' leaves started drying out. A couple others I tested would lose seal and let air into the spike, then no more water gets in. I never got those ones to work at all!The ones that stopped working on the hanging plants (ivies in 6" pots) were still…

Pros
  • Perfect for hard-to-reach plants or high shelves
Cons
  • The waterers may not be suitable for all watering schedules

Gave this 3 stars as I just started testing it.

I am still in the testing phase with this product. Water flowed easily for some, others took a while. Waiting to see if the last 3 will work.

Pros
  • Easy to install and use
Cons
  • The amount of water dispensed may not be suitable for drought-resistant plants

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Get the name brand.

I took a chance on the off brand version of these, but they just aren't as good as the original hydro spike, which I also have. They stop siphoning water at the drop of a hat and are hard to get started. So save yourself some heartache and get the original instead.

Pros
  • Ensures that plants receive the proper amount of water for optimal health
Cons
  • The waterers may not be able to prevent diseases caused by overwatering

It's worth it! Great product.

Working great so far! It's been keepingmy plants hydrated for 1month now. Things to keep in mind: make sure the ceramic spikes are full of water as well as the water source in the jar. When I first got the product, I pre-soaked the spikes in water for 1hr. Keep the plant above the water source that way the plant will draw water through capillary action. If you have the plant at the same level or below the water source then you will flood the plant (due to gravity).

Pros
  • Can be used with any type of plant food or nutrient solution
Cons
  • The waterers may not be effective for plants in direct sunlight

Happy for some, but never got it to work

I have a lot of houseplants (100+). I tried and tried to get these to work before going overseas. The instructions said to "inject” water into the tubes, so I maybe failed to do that.

Pros
  • Ideal for both indoor and outdoor plants
Cons
  • The waterers may be too expensive for their function

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Work good for plants that need lots of water

For the price you just can’t beat these, but I wanted to know how they compare to the Blumat name brand that I have used for the last 3 years. I set up an experiment to compare them and found that these distributed about 1/2 cup of water into the soil in less than 12 hours, where the name brand distributed maybe a few tablespoons. That being said, if you have a large plant or something that requires a LOT of water these might work for you. Personally I will keep them to only use for outdoor…

Pros
  • Can be used for hydroponic systems
Cons
  • The waterers may not be suitable for outdoor spaces with erratic weather patterns

Tubes need weights!

UPDATE : I've had these for my office plants for over a year now. I have three going in my pothos and one in my schefflera. They do manage to keep the plants alive when I'm away, and it's the primary source of water for the pothos. The other one though, I haven't been able to get the spike to work and I am always re-soaking and refilling it, and then watering the plant. Some work well and others don't work at all. I took the weights off the tubes after a while because the plastic no longer…

Pros
  • Saves time by not having to hand-water each plant
Cons
  • The waterers may require frequent calibration and adjustment

It really works! on my review.

I ordered the little cone watering systems and like most people say, there are NO instructions in the package, just online where we order from. I soaked the cone with the lid off for several hours to ensure the porous white terra cotta type material was thoroughly primed. There is no hole in the cone to drip water, the water will soak through the white material. I wanted to test the item before I actually go on vacation so I used a bowl of baking flour so I would be able to tell if the water…

Pros
  • Saves energy by not having to carry heavy watering cans
Cons
  • The waterers may not be able to provide adequate water during prolonged droughts

Revainrating 3 out of 5

they work.kind of for my opinion

basically, i soaked them in water for 15-20 mins and then put them in 1 gallon potting soil filled pots.3 of them just kept letting water through, until the 1 gallon reservoir was half empty. the rest all seemed to work okay. I'll keep toying with them, maybe a cap is loose or there is too much perlite around the ceramic cap.

Pros
  • Gardening & Lawn Care
Cons
  • The waterers may not be compatible with all plant types

Automatic plant waterers - 8 pack

The concept is good but fails to execute. Only 3 of the 8 actually established flow. After spending several hours trying to get them all to work I abandoned trying to use them.

Pros
  • Perfect for busy schedules or frequent travelers
Cons
  • The waterers may need frequent cleaning and maintenance

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works good - adjust the depth to control watering volume

I've only just started using these, but I'm generally satisfied. Like another reviewer said - follow all the instructions to get them to work properly. I've found that I have to adjust the insertion depth for different size plants - for small plants, I just barely push the cone into the soil and for large plants I push it in all the way. I didn't poke holes in the cones, as I did not want to accelerate the water delivery, and they seem to be working fine for my houseplants.2 of the 8 the tubes…

Pros
  • Excellent for gardeners of all skill levels
Cons
  • The waterers may cause soil compaction and drainage issues
