Quantum Tip-Out Bin Storage

Carpenters and hobbyists of all kinds are frugal by nature. We keep it all and hope to one day find a use for that piece of wood, that special screw, or those extra hinges. The problem is that we never seem to be able to find what we need and keep buying it only to discover it later. Being thrifty, we try to organize everything. Old coffee cans, jars, and even store-bought organizers. Coffee cans are notoriously difficult to label and store, glass cans can (and often do) break, and multi-drawer organizers just aren't quite "right". The configuration is fixed, the drawers never seem to be the right size or too many of one size and not enough of another, and a particularly frustrating issue for me, I have yet to find a drawer organizer that comes close to the standard 16 -Inch rated studs that make up 99.9% of our homes and garages. Even a 20-drawer organizer stuffed with screws, nuts, and bolts can be too heavy for anything other than direct rack mounting. In my business, the elegant answer is Quantum Industries' Tip Out Bin System. By the way, the right word is "system" because there are seven different cell size systems, four different split cell sizes, and four individual cell sizes. All hopper systems are nominally 24" long, and single and half-size systems can be combined to perfectly match 24" long systems. And guess what? Each 24" container system has mounting holes that are on 16" centers! Each bin slides out for easy access, and also lifts up so you can carry your materials to your workspace or rearrange bins to group similar items. . The durable clear containers let you see what's inside, but if that's your thing there's room for a label. I used cardboard, my computer, and a paper cutter to make some really pretty but removable labels. Even with the label on, you can still see what's in each container. Because the bins tip over when in use and stay closed when not in use, everything in the bin stays clean and dust-free. There may be a better system for organizing all your "little things," but in 30 years of woodworking I haven't found one. Highly recommended.
