My four year old has been asking for a walkie talkie for over a year. We found this for his 4th birthday and the boy and his siblings are very happy. I recommend they are at least 4 years old as it takes time to get the coordination to press the talk button during a call and release it immediately to hear from other devices. The color combinations are perfect for us as we have two boys and one girl. One of them needs to be upstairs to ensure devices are properly turned off when not in use or the batteries are dying. For this reason we buy a charger and batteries. In general we are happy with it. We played villains and police, and we also hid one unit and played Marco Polo/Hot-Cold with another unit. The sound will become clearer as children learn how to press and release the speaker button correctly. Devices can also be locked to prevent channel and volume changes. Definitely a plus
