I bought 2 sets of small size black silk thermal underwear for $20 top and $17 bottom (after tax and shipping). I got a great deal but now that I'm wearing thermal underwear I wouldn't pay more. Why? Because they are very simple, very thin (like tights) and made in China. I'm 5ft 1in, 112lbs, straight build except for my 32F chest. I usually go to XS, but because of the sale, the price I order is small. It fits like loungewear (not like cozy thermals), but I don't mind. Sometimes I come home, take off my work clothes and lie around in them. The pants are long for me, but miraculously everything fits! For thermal underwear they are quite light and not enough for extreme cold. I use them for winter sports (mountain hiking, skiing) with several layers over them. Typical trekking gear would be for me silk thermals, cotton turtleneck, merino leggings, down sweater, then a heavy winter coat with padded ski gloves. Despite their bulk, these thermos are fairly breathable. Be careful with sharp edges on thin, delicate fabrics such as nails and jewelry. Like pantyhose, it can get caught, but I haven't had any holes (yet). I wash and dry them in a separate linen bag, no problem. Treat this garment with care and it will last a long time. Finally, I highly recommend black for three reasons: it repels dirt, it keeps you warm and it looks sexy!
