After 6 phones in 8.5 years (3 each) my husband and I destroyed the cable to plug connection point on every charging cable we had except 3 cables, that came with the phone we do not use. I bought 2 6ft Apple cables and 2 thick 10ft cables for each of us and bending the cables in bed at this vulnerable point resulted in a short lifespan for all. While fabric-covered cables appear sturdier in the box, there's nothing stopping them from bending 90 degrees. My husband bought small plastic protectors to keep them from bending but didn't. So when I saw them with a one piece "rubber" cover from the USB port to the cable I immediately bought 3 packs for 2 phones and an iPad. It takes us 10 feet to get from the wall to a comfortable position in bed. The protective case's one-piece design prevents the phone cord from colliding with the body or bed and breaking the delicate internal filament wiring. It's rigid enough to prevent careless positioning, yet flexible to allow the phone to move slightly with your every movement. These are the best charging cables I've seen and cost a third of the price of a single 'durable' cable bought elsewhere. If you like reading in bed, this well-designed charging cable is your best buy. We've only had ours for a few months, but that was long enough for Apple's thin white cables, which are very expensive at 6 inches, to already show permanent crease lines on the white vinyl, heralding the cables' demise. The heavier cable on the "heavy duty" 10ft cables began to show fiber breaks at the connection point after 2 months. I read every night and leave the charger plugged in because I almost always fall asleep with my phone in hand and don't need a dead battery in the morning. These cables are amazing.
