Some of the reviews about this stand aren't very flattering, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. The aluminum base is beautifully finished, the swing arms are strong and have plenty of friction to hold their position, and even the plastic bracket that holds the phone or tablet is solid and well made. It wasn't clear in the description, but the mount has two sides, one for smaller devices like a phone and one for larger things like an iPad, so it works with a wide variety of devices. The included instructions are well illustrated, but the booklet is small, making it difficult to read. But the only real assembly involves adding a plastic mount to the top of the swingarm, which is the subject of many complaints. I couldn't tighten the small screw enough to keep the strut from twisting when I just finger tightened it. So I took it to the shop, found a fairly large screwdriver that fit the groove, and applied a bit of threadlocker to the screw before trying again. This time the mount was firmly in place and hasn't moved since. I bought this stand to use with an Apple iPad Mini 4 which I keep in a Griffin Survivor All-Terrain Case and the combination works great together. I was concerned that the clamp wouldn't hold tight enough or extend far enough to pick up the suitcase, but that doesn't bother me. When the iPad is placed over the controls, you can't see your hands or what you're doing, but the DJI Mavic Mini's controls don't have a screen, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. By the way, the bottom plate fits perfectly with the DJI controller's arms and body; he was clearly made for it. There's no slipping or loosening, and there's no chance of these two separating until you're ready to take them apart if need be. I ended up ordering a 12 inch long cable to connect the iPad to the controller as the one that came with the drone wasn't long enough.Compatible with Ortikar 1FT 90 Degree Micro USB for iPhone iPad OTG Data Cable Right angle cable to connect phone to DJI Tablet Spark, Mavic Pro, Platinum, Air, 2 Pro, Zoom Remote Controller Accessory (2 Pack) fits perfectly and works great and was ordered here at Revain at the same time as the stand. comes with the DJI Fly More Kit, but the stand doesn't take up much space in the basket that stores the rest of the drone accessories, and installing and removing the controller from the stand is quick and easy. However, I've only used the stand a couple of times so far, so it's hard to say how it will hold up over the long term. But the stand came with hex wrenches and a pipe wrench to install the brackets into the hinges. So if they loosen in use, they should be easy to re-tighten. Other than that, there just aren't that many issues with this thing. It's probably worth noting that this stand comes with an adapter for CrystalSky, whatever that is, and it's not necessary if you're just using a phone or tablet. I'm pretty sure the same stand without the CrystalSky adapter is available here at Revain for a slightly cheaper price. and reliable and easy to use. Two thumbs up and five starts from me.
