Review on 🔭 Celestron 93493 CPC 1100 Heavy Duty Tripod in Black/Silver by Robert Cooper

After purchasing an equatorial wedge for my nexstar 6se I decided I needed a tripod that could handle the extra weight and provide a stronger base for my scope and wedge. While the standard tripod only accommodated the scope in an Alt/Az configuration, I was skeptical that it would be able to support the added weight of the two pieces of gear and my camera. After finding this tripod I made some reservations as the reviews didn't say much about it and it's an expensive upgrade. I was concerned that the lower legs would be held in place with plastic screw mounts like my standard tripod and was delighted to see that they were solid die cast aluminum parts with good lever locks that should last a long time. Feet hit the ground with great machined aluminum 'cleats' that should provide good traction on a variety of surfaces. In fact, everything about this mount is solid, solid, and solid. The accessory tray is solid and heavy, the leg braces are solid aluminum bars instead of the stamped channel steel I feared. I am very happy with this purchase and can't wait for first light tonight hoping to get some long exposures. I would highly recommend this tripod to anyone who needs a solid, well built platform for their Nextstar SE Series scope. I suspect it would be great for any scope up to 9.25 in the Nexstar SE or Evolution line.
