These toys are relatively cheaply built, but for small birds they work well and last a long time. The main reason for breaking parts is the process of untying them from each other when you first get them, because they come in a jumble and I lost a few small, non-essential parts separating the chains and hooks. I'm not deducting any stars for quality because budgies, budgies, budgies, etc. are practically indestructible. The only thing that bothers me about this set is the faint smell upon first opening. The company claims that natural, non-toxic paint was used in the manufacture of these toys, but unfortunately the company's claims can so often not be trusted. I'm afraid of exposing small birds to any synthetic chemicals because they are much less resistant to man-made toxins than humans. I would have preferred to have the same set in plain raw wood rather than bright colors and plastic beads. Birds love toys and colors, but they also appreciate simple wooden toys to chew and throw around. My budgie likes to chew and over time it will chew on the plastic bits and make them shine. He's usually smart enough not to eat the fruits of his chews, but it would still be nice if he could make sure these toys are as natural as the company claims. And plastic is never natural. If I keep thinking, I'll take off more stars.
