Doesn't work in new washing machines
Believe it or not, this doesn't work in newer washing machines that don't have a fabric softener dispenser. If I could go back I would spend the extra money on a built in fabric softener dispenser. My analogy is that centrifugal force is not enough to open the dispenser on the sphere. Nothing against downy balls because I know they work on old style pucks but not on new style pucks without much movement. So don't buy a cheap Amana washing machine. Buy at least one with a built-in fabric softener dispenser. Fabric softener sheets are good, but don't smell as good as liquid.
