Review on πŸ”„ Enhanced NGFF (M.2) Key A/E to PCI-E Express X1+USB Riser Card: Superior Performance with High Speed FPC Cable by Bill Howard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well with PCIe and USB

It's a little pricey for a passive adapter (now selling for $5 more than I paid) but it works well. I used one to add a dual gigabit ethernet card to a mini-ITX motherboard (Asus H110T) that didn't have PCIe slots, using an M.2 Type-E slot for a Wi- Fi adapter used. It fits perfectly under my Type B+M M.2 SSD, which covers the Type E slot on this motherboard. An additional internal USB port is also useful and can work simultaneously with the PCIe slot as it is connected to separate pins on the M.2 connector. Depending on the case design, some creativity (special drilling, etc.) may be required to securely attach the expansion card, and you must be careful not to damage the thin-film ribbon cable. Mine came with two different length straps and the option to choose a longer strap might come in handy on larger occasions. There is a blue surface mount LED on the M.2 card section, which in my system stays lit even when the computer is in sleep mode (in ACPI-S3 mode) and I think even when the software is off.

  • Computers and Accessories
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
