The company I work for bought this microphone for one of our smaller operations and I am very disappointed with the quality of this microphone. In some cases we work to very small tolerances of +/- 0.0001, so I ordered this mic, it reads 0.00005, it doesn't repeat up to +/- 0.0001, and I blame it how tight the spindle is. You can't get the feeling you want, not very smooth as the description says. Also note that this is not a spinning disk. I've been an instrument maker for over 30 years and have always ranked the Fowler in the top four microns, now I would put the Shars on a better quality micron and they cost less than $100. I have a feeling this mic should be in the $50-$60 range and then I would give it a higher rating. I do not recommend this microphone to anyone.
