Look. I understand. You guys are disrupting the industry when it comes to studio lighting, your R2 system is inspirational and amazing and really reinforces the idea that we've been stagnant in terms of studio flash most of the time. And it's cool. And I understand that it comes with growing pains. But for heaven's sake, if you're about to step into the modern age of technological change, PLEASE consider hiring people who actually KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. Begin. As a studio light, it does exactly what it says on the tin. These are strobe lights, albeit with less than ideal levels of control (which I would forgive on cost grounds, were it not for the fact that companies like Neewer. NEEWER, Walmart of Studio Equipment outperform you on this level), controls and unsatisfactory (blister buttons are shit. Seriously. Stop putting blister buttons on stuff. The device isn't weatherproof, so there's literally no reason not to put a button on it instead.), functional and working. The color is pure, the light is pure, it slices, dices, juliennes fries. Cool. UNTIL YOU CONNECT IT TO YOUR CONTROLLER. At this point this light doesn't recognize the controller's request to turn on the modeling light unless you confuse it completely, and every time it turns on it turns the modeling light back off. Now you could say "that sounds like a controller problem" and you'd be right about the difficulty activating model lights (seriously Godox, CHECK YOUR SOFTWARE BEFORE SUBMITTING IT), but the rest? It's all just one thing. And I know this because their AD200 units are running simultaneously with the same controller? I don't have this problem. I totally understand Godox wanting to be at the forefront of shaking up the industry by making things better, but these kinds of rookie mistakes are a surefire way to set everything back another ten years. Serious. Every time a company sets big, ambitious goals to improve things, things that people WANT when they screw it up so badly, it scares everyone to improve things for a long time later. Please Godox. RENTAL FEE. BETTER. ENGINEERS.
